"You guys... I'm obsessed!! I'm only 6 weeks out from my boob job and the girls are already looking amaaaazing.  Dr. Barrett is a consummate professional and someone I felt really comfortable trusting from the get-go. Knowledgeable, patient, super personable, and all-around a great doctor. The staff is also awesome! So friendly, so welcoming, and there for me every step of the way with encouragement, answers, and good conversation.

P.S. Bonus points for the office being so accommodating with my post-surgery questions."

"I consulted with three surgeons for my breast augmentation and selected Dr. Barrett due to his results, demeanor, and emphasis on post-operative recovery. I applaud Dr. Barrett's awareness and sensitivity to gut health.

I am in love with my breast augmentation results. The distance between the breasts is fantastic. The incisions have healed great. I selected a specific photo from Dr. Barrett's results and asked for a similar look. I feel he delivered as promised. While everyone's body is different, I don't think I would have gotten as satisfactory breast results elsewhere. Everyone I've shared my breast with are stunned at how natural and fitting they look for my body."

Questions & Answers

What is breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation, also called a “boob job,” adds volume to the breasts by surgically placing a silicone or saline implant into the breast pocket. Performed to enhance the breast's size and shape, patients have various implant types and incision techniques to achieve their breast goals.

Whether following a reduction in volume or size after pregnancy, correcting a congenital breast defect, or balancing breast size, this procedure can achieve a wide variety of unique goals.

How do I know what size breast implant is right for me?

There are many factors that go into choosing the right size breast implant. These can include:

  • Your body size and shape
  • Your desired breast augmentation look and size
  • The amount of breast tissue you currently have
  • Your lifestyle

During your initial consultation, your surgeon will perform a physical exam and take time to understand your unique goals to help determine the best breast implant size, shape, and type for you.

Should I wait until I have children to have a breast augmentation?

Breast implants can be placed to minimize any interference with breastfeeding, however, any surgery on the breast you can potentially affect its functionality.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants are designed to last many years, making them a great investment of time and money. The FDA and implant manufacturers recommend replacing implants every ten years. Regular monitoring of breast implants after augmentation is also recommended.

How long is recovery from a breast augmentation?

Patients will experience swelling and soreness for the first few days following their procedure but are often pleased to find this stage of recovery is very short. Most patients begin feeling better within three days and return to work within the week if their job is not overly strenuous. Pain, swelling, and sensitivity will linger for a few weeks but subside enough to allow you to return to most activities.

Should I get silicone implants or saline implants?

Saline breast implants are filled with saline and are typically the cheapest option. Silicone implants are filled with silicone gel and give a more natural look and feel. Gummy bear silicone implants are made of a cohesive silicone gel, preventing silicone leaking in instances of implant rupture.

Dr. Daniel Barrett typically recommends gummy bear silicone implants for the most natural look and feel with the lowest risk of complication. During your initial consultation, your surgeon will perform a physical exam and take time to understand your unique goals to help determine the best breast implant size, shape, and type for you.

Will my nipple sensation or feeling change?

During this cosmetic surgery, your surgeon inserts your implants through the areola, nipple sensitivity is always a risk during any kind of surgery in this area, and any time you do surgery on the breast you can potentially affect its functionality, which includes sensitivity.

Will breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer or other health compliations?

There is no link between breast implants and breast cancer. Although rare, the most common complication of breast enlargement with implant is capsular contracture. Choosing an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your procedure is critical in reducing this risk.
